VALIDATION OF AN INSTRUMENT FOR ASSESSING COMPETITIVE STRATEGIES IN SMALL AND MEDIUM ENTERPRISES
Resumo
This study aimed to develop and validate an instrument for assessing competitive strategies in small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs). The methodological approach involved theoretical alignment, content validation by experts, and empirical validation through a pilot test. The instrument was structured into five dimensions: competitive strategy, dynamic capabilities, contingency factors, performance, and internationalization. The results showed satisfactory internal consistency (Cronbach’s Alpha > 0.70) and robust factorial structure, confirming theoretical coherence. The pilot application revealed the importance of adapting language and structure to the SME context, ensuring clarity and applicability. The findings emphasize that SMEs predominantly adopt differentiation and innovation strategies, while also recognizing the relevance of cost leadership and focus, albeit to a lesser extent. The study also confirmed that digital transformation and strategic flexibility are perceived by managers as essential for competitiveness and sustainability. The instrument proves to be a valid tool for strategic diagnosis and can support future research and managerial decision-making in the SME sector.
