IDENTIFYING NARRATIVE LEVELS IN MARKUS ZUSAK'S THE BOOK THIEF

Resumo


The present article aims at analyzing the historic fiction The Book Thief, by the Australian author Markus Zusak, under the light of the narratological studies. In order to verify the possible narrative levels detected in the alluded work, the theoretical tools are provided especially by the scholars Gérard Genette and Mieke Bal, whose ideas help us to understand the narrative techniques which allow many levels of meaning.
