V de Vingança – uma vendeta contra a homofobia e fascismo

RESUMO

O artigo analisa algumas questões presentes na história em quadrinhos (HQ) V de Vingança, de Alan Moore, e no filme nela baseado. V de Vingança se passa numa Inglaterra futurista. Após uma Terceira Guerra Mundial e assolada por bombardeios, a Inglaterra está mergulhada no caos. Depois de algum tempo, a ordem é estabelecida, mas por meio de manipulações políticas e ideológicas de um governo fascista que caça os direitos civis, impõe uma forte censura aos meios de comunicação e reprime violentamente os opositores e livros, músicas e obras de arte considerados perigosos para a manutenção da ordem são destruídos. Dentre aqueles considerados não adequados à nova ordem estão os estrangeiros, muçulmanos, negros e os homossexuais que são encaminhados aos chamados campos de readaptação, onde são torturados e feitos como cobaias de experiências. V é um homem que sobreviveu às experiências e, usando sempre uma máscara, vai eliminando os líderes fascistas. Tanto a HQ quanto o filme são sobre o amor e sobre o que regimes totalitários podem fazer com a vida das pessoas, no que elas podem se transformar, no que elas podem ser roubadas, na sua essência e dignidade e na possibilidade de lutarem contra a submissão.

ABSTRACT

The article examines some issues present in the comic book (HQ) V for Vendetta, Alan Moore, and the movie based on it. V for Vendetta takes place in a futuristic England. After a third world war and plagued by bombings, Britain is plunged into chaos. After some time, the order is established, but through political manipulation and ideological needs of a fascist government that hunts civil rights, imposes a strong censorship on the media and violently repressing opponents and books, songs and works of art considered dangerous to the maintenance of order are destroyed. Among those considered unsuitable to the new order are foreigners, Muslims, blacks and homosexuals who are referred to so-called rehabilitation camps, where they are tortured and made as guinea pigs for experiments. V is a man who survived the experience, and always wearing a mask, will eliminate the fascist leaders. Both the comic and the movie are about love and what totalitarian regimes can do with people's lives, what they can become, as they can be stolen, in essence and dignity and the possibility of fighting against submission.
